poems for every reason...

Is writing love poems outdated?

Love poems, like love letters, seem to be a thing of the past. But why is this so? Are we just to lazy to write something by hand, because we are used to type something into our computers, mobile phones and other gadgets? Or is it just lack of time that results from our busy lives? Can we still be creative when it comes to writing poems about love?

Every girl dreams about getting a handwritten love letter, especially if it encloses a love poem. We just love reading about how great we are and how silky our hair is and that the colour of our lips is that of rose petals… The interesting thing is, that we still like reading those well-known phrases that some think are kitschy and overused. So is the problem with love poems that we have just read too many cheesy ones? If you know one, you know them all? I am of the opinion that there can still be creativity in love poems if people would just spend a little time on re-writing old ones. What about reading some love sonnets of Shakespeare and getting some good inspiration for writing a poem on your own? Make use of imposing and special phrases and create a unique love poem that will certainly impressive your loved one. You can also add a so-called Wandtattoo-Herz painted by yourself or a red rose to your love poem. Another possibility would be to design a Wandtattoo-Herz and write the self-written poem into it.

Many people refrain from writing a poem themselves, because they think it's too difficult for them. But it is easier than ever to write poems, because we have such a huge repertoire of love poems that are a source of inspiration for all new writers. It is also easier to access all love poems previously written because we are in no need of a well-stocked library; we just turn on the computer and search the Internet. And then we do not have to stick to strict conventions and guidelines in order to be successful: think free verse! We have the freedom to write about what we want and to put our ideas into whichever form we like.

So why have we stopped writing love poems for our partners if it has become so easy for us? The answer is probably that it takes some time and consideration to write a good poem. Even if we don't write the entire poem on our own, but help ourselves with some poems by other writers that we found on the Internet, it still takes time to personalize the poem and to incorporate our own ideas and feelings. But isn't it worth a try if you can have one of those genuine smiles of your partner in return for your sweat and tears?

Even in our modern world we shouldn't forget about the impact a few well-written words can make on a relationship. And I'm not talking about a short text message. Use nice paper, force yourself to readable handwriting and get going. It's worth the effort.
